成语故事 | True love or false love

During the Spring and Autumn Period, there was a young county leader, Lord Ye. He liked dragons very much.

春秋战国时期，有个年轻的县令叫叶公。他非常喜欢龙。

And he had a strange hobby of collecting the pictures of dragons. People could see Dragon pictures everywhere in his house. 

而且有个奇怪的爱好：收集龙的图案。人们在他的房子里到处都可以看到龙的图案。

But no one had seen what a real dragon was like. Neither had he.

但是没有人见到过真龙长什么样，包括叶公也没有。

One day, the real dragon heard the story of Lord Ye. He wanted to visit him and made friends with him. 

有一天，真龙听说了叶公的故事，就想去拜访他顺便跟他交个朋友。

Then he flew from the sky to Lord Ye’s home. The dragon was so big that he could only push his head into the house through the window. While his long tail was still outside.

于是它就从天上飞下来。龙的身体太大了，以至于只能把他的头从窗户伸到叶公的房间里。

He asked: “Is Lord Ye in?”

他问道：“叶公在家吗？”

When Lord Ye saw the real dragon, he began shivering with fear.

叶公出来看到真龙之后，吓得直哆嗦。

The dragon asked in surprise: “ Don’t you like dragons? Now I’m right here in front of you. Why are you so scared of me? ”

龙惊讶地问：“你不是喜欢龙吗？我现在就在你面前，你为什么如此害怕呢？”

Lord Ye replied: I just liked the fake dragons in the pictures, not the real dragons.

叶公答道：“我只是喜欢画上的假龙，不是真龙啊。”
